Ueno Cherry Blossom Festival 2027 | Tokyo Events | Xandre LLC

Ueno-koen, Taito-ku, Tokyo, 110-0007
March 15, 2027 · 17:00 JST

The Ueno Cherry Blossom Festival dates back to the Edo period, when samurai and locals gathered under the blossoms surrounding Kaneiji Temple. Today, the festival stretches along the park’s main pathway leading toward Shinobazu Pond. During the day, visitors can enjoy picnics under weeping cherry trees (shidarezakura) and Somei Yoshino blossoms while listening to traditional street performers. At dusk, over one thousand paper lanterns light up, transforming the park into a dazzling night-sakura (yozakura) wonderland. Nighttime illumination along the Meguro River reflecting off the water beneath a dense canopy of pink cherry blossoms in Nakameguro. The Meguro River festival is renowned for transforming a quiet Tokyo neighborhood into a bustling festive promenade. During the day, visitors stroll along the tree-lined riverbanks enjoying specialized pink-themed snacks, strawberry prosecco, and artisanal street foods. As night falls, lanterns along the water light up for the evening yozakura (night cherry blossom viewing). Floating pink petals scatter across the river’s surface toward the end of the season, creating a stunning visual phenomenon known as hana-ikada (flower rafts).
