Tabi to Yachimun (Yomitan Pottery Trail & Crafts Experience)

2653-1 Zakimi, Yomitan Village, Nakagami District, Okinawa 904-0301, Japan
July 25, 2026 · 09:30 JST

Tabi to Yachimun ("Travel & Pottery") serves as a dedicated self-guided cultural trail inviting travelers to explore Yomitan Village—the undisputed craft heartland of Okinawa. Home to over 70 studios scattered among pine trees and red-tile Okinawan structures, the epicenter is Yachimun no Sato (Pottery Village). Visitors stroll between independent workshops, observe multi-tiered red-brick climbing kilns (Noborigama), and purchase handmade tableware, tea sets, and shisa statues directly from master artisans and emerging ceramic artists.

Where does it come from?

-Self-guided gallery walks visiting famous collective kilns like Yomitan-zan Kama and Kita-Gama. -Up-close access to iconic 9-chamber red-brick climbing kilns (Noborigama). -Direct studio shopping for limited, handmade ceramics characterized by bold cobalt (Gosu) brushwork and green/brown glazes. -Charming on-site garden cafes (such as Mori no Chaya) serving Okinawan tea, sweets, and coffee in handcrafted Yachimun cups.

Tabi to Yachimun (Yomitan Pottery Trail & Crafts Experience)
