The festival begins with the popular Evening Cool Live & Stargazing Event, where acclaimed Okinawan musicians perform beneath the stars before guests participate in guided constellation viewing led by astronomy experts.

The Southern Island Star Festival Executive Committee, led by the Ishigaki City Tourism & Culture Division, organizes one of Okinawa's most recognized astronomy and cultural tourism events. Working closely with research institutions, tourism organizations, observatories, and local community partners, the committee promotes Ishigaki Island as an international destination for dark-sky tourism and science education.
