Sake Brewery & Awamori Tour at Kusu no Mori Chukogura (Sakegura Kengaku)

Located near Naha Airport, Kusu no Mori Chukogura is an immersive educational museum and active distillery dedicated to Awamori—Japan’s oldest distilled spirit. Visitors tour the island’s smallest traditional hand-crafting factory to observe rice steaming and earth-pot distillation, followed by a walk through a massive wooden cellar storing over 450,000 bottles worth of aging Kusu while classical music plays. The experience concludes at the tasting hall, featuring limited-edition vintages and international award-winning aged spirits.

Founded in 1949, Chuko Shuzo is one of Okinawa’s most decorated Awamori distilleries. It holds the unique distinction of being the world's only distillery that manufactures its own unglazed ceramic aging urns at its dedicated on-site kiln, Chuko-yo.
