Blue Cave Okinawa Snorkeling & Introductory Scuba Diving

Cape Maeda, 469-1 Maeda, Onna Village, Kunigami District, Okinawa 904-0417, Japan
May 1, 2026 · 07:00 JST

Located under the limestone cliffs of Cape Maeda in Onna Village, the Blue Cave (Ao no Mokutsu) is a natural sea cave created by wave erosion. Sunlight enters the cave mouth underwater and reflects off the white limestone sand bottom, making the interior pool glow in an ethereal cobalt blue. Visitors can explore the cave via guided snorkeling, introductory scuba diving (no license required), or boat-entry charters directly from nearby ports like Maeda or Maekaneku.

Where does it come from?

-Naturally Glowing Blue Pool: Swim into a half-submerged cave illuminated by natural underwater sunlight reflection. -Snorkeling & Beginner Scuba Diving: Guided tours tailored for all skill levels, equipped with wetsuits, life jackets, and underwater cameras. -Tropical Fish Feeding Experience: Interact with friendly schools of Sergeant Major fish (Ryukyu-suzumedai) and butterflyfish right outside the cave entrance. -Boat vs. Beach Entry Options: Choose between a 100-step cliff walk down Cape Maeda or a comfortable 5-minute speed boat ride directly to the cave entrance. -Underwater Photography Services: Complimentary or add-on underwater photo and video packages captured by professional dive guides.
