100-Year-Old House, Ouya (Hyakunen Koka Ufuya)

Tucked into the lush hills of Nago in northern Okinawa, Ufuya is a cultural oasis designed like a traditional Okinawan village. Guests dine inside timber-frame houses crafted from native chagi wood, taking in views of a central courtyard with a multi-tiered waterfall and lush subtropical gardens. During lunch, the restaurant serves homemade raw-noodle Okinawa soba and Yushi Tofu sets; during dinner, it transforms into an illuminated night estate specializing in premium Agu pork shabu-shabu and Motobu Wagyu beef hot pots.

Where does it come from?

-Dining inside authentic 100+ year-old Ryukyuan red-tile houses (Asato-ya, Takushi-ya, and Aragusuku-ya). -Signature Agu pork shabu-shabu courses and homemade raw-noodle Soki soba. -Strolling along illuminated garden trails, Torii gate pathways, and the upper waterfall lookout point. -On-site Ufuya Sweets Shop offering brown sugar (Kokuto) roll cakes and freshly brewed specialty coffee.

Originally built in 1901 during the late Meiji period as the Asato family residence, Ufuya was carefully restored and expanded by bringing in other historic Ryukyuan red-tile houses to preserve Okinawan heritage and offer authentic Yanbaru forest hospitality.
