About this item

Description

Discover how Xandre LLC connects traditional Ryukyu craftsmanship with global collectors of contemporary Japanese art and luxury lifestyle objects. By sourcing directly from independent Okinawan studios, our curated catalog presents authentic glassblowing inspired by the spirit, sea, forests, and living culture of Yanbaru.

Set among the lush subtropical forests of Northern Okinawa, Yanbaru provides a distinctive setting for contemporary expressions of Okinawa's glassmaking heritage. Crafted by Glass Art Ai (グラスアート藍), each piece is individually mouth-blown using traditional Okinawan glassworking techniques, transforming molten glass into functional works distinguished by organic textures and luminous finishes.

This handcrafted sake glass features an elegant tulip silhouette with a gently flared rim, designed to complement the aroma and tasting experience of sake while also being suitable for Awamori, espresso, and other beverages.

Continuous spun-spiral glass threading wraps around the body, creating a distinctive tactile surface, while fine champagne-gold particles provide a warm shimmer that changes with the surrounding light.

Artistic Characteristics

  1. Spun Spiral Texture & Golden Sparkle: Raised horizontal glass threading creates a tactile grip while the embedded champagne-gold shimmer catches and reflects light across the surface.
  2. Flared Tasting Rim: The gently outward-curved rim provides a refined drinking profile suited to appreciating the aroma and flavor of chilled or room-temperature beverages.
  3. Hand-Blown Studio Craftsmanship: Each glass is individually shaped at Glass Art Ai, resulting in natural differences in spiral spacing, micro-bubble distribution, glass flow, and light refraction.
  4. Complete Sake Ritual Pairing: Designed to complement the Glass Art Ai Hand-Blown Textured Sake Decanter (Tokkuri), allowing collectors to create a coordinated Okinawan glassware set.
  5. Authentic Presentation: Includes a custom natural wooden presentation box (Kiribako) bearing the official Glass Art Ai studio mark, together with an authentic studio brochure.

Curator's Note

Each Glass Art Ai glass possesses its own visual character. Natural variations in spiral-thread spacing, micro-bubble inclusions, glass contours, and golden shimmer distribution are inherent characteristics of individually hand-blown Okinawan glass.

These variations should not be considered manufacturing defects; they reflect the individual craftsmanship of each vessel.
