About this item

Xandre Store Exclusive - Traditional Okinawan mingei pottery featuring hand-applied ten-uchi spotting, tactile form, and natural wood-fired character from Kita-gama.

Description

Hand-thrown by Kyoji Matsuda (松田 共司) of Kita-gama (北窯) in Yomitan Village, this tactile furī kappu combines everyday functionality with the warm, expressive character of traditional Okinawan yachimun.

The gently flared, tapered form is finished with an off-white keshō-do slip and decorated with rhythmic cobalt blue (gosu) and amber-brown (ame-yu) ten-uchi spotting. An iron-brown glazed rim and natural drip mark along the inner lip add an individual hand-finished detail. Fine kannyū micro-crazing and subtle glaze variation further reflect its traditional firing and handmade character.

With an approximate 220–280 ml capacity, the cup is suited to hot tea, iced coffee, water, beer, or Awamori, while its organic proportions make it equally appealing as a standalone piece of everyday Okinawan craft.
