About this item

Description

Discover the refined everyday elegance of Okinawan textile craftsmanship through a beautifully practical accessory from Shuri Ryusen (首里琉染) in Naha, Okinawa. Part of the studio's Kana-Sango coral-inspired textile collection, this handcrafted pocket tissue case transforms distinctive Okinawan patterning into a compact accessory designed for everyday use. Shuri Ryusen is renowned for its distinctive Okinawan textile artistry and Sango-zome (珊瑚染め, coral dyeing), a visual tradition characterized by organic radial forms inspired by the natural structures of coral.

This elegant tissue pouch combines patterned woven cotton fabric with a contrasting red cord accent along the opening. Compact enough for a handbag, pocket, or travel bag, it brings a subtle expression of Okinawan craftsmanship into daily life. Handcrafted in Naha by artisans at Shuri Ryusen, each pouch reflects the individuality of traditionally produced textile material through variations in pattern placement, color intensity, and dye appearance.

Curator's Note

Every Kana-Sango tissue pouch is individually cut and finished from Shuri Ryusen textile material. Natural variations in coral motif placement, pattern alignment, dye intensity, fabric texture, and color depth are inherent characteristics of handcrafted textile production.

Because the pattern is positioned individually during production, the appearance of each pouch may differ slightly from product photographs.
