About this item

Description

Discover how Xandre LLC connects traditional Ryukyu craftsmanship with global collectors of contemporary Japanese art and luxury lifestyle objects. By sourcing directly from independent Okinawan studios, our curated catalog presents authentic glassblowing inspired by the spirit, sea, forests, and living culture of Yanbaru.

Set among the lush subtropical forests of Northern Okinawa, Yanbaru provides a distinctive natural setting for contemporary expressions of the island's glassmaking heritage. Crafted by Glass Art Ai (グラスアート藍), each piece is individually mouth-blown using traditional Okinawan glassworking techniques, transforming molten glass into functional works distinguished by organic textures and luminous finishes.

Glass Art Ai: Hand-Blown Textured Sake Decanter (Tokkuri). Handcrafted in Yanbaru, Okinawa, this distinctive sake decanter features a continuous spun-spiral texture encircling its elegant, bulbous body. Fine gold-toned particles are incorporated throughout the glass, producing a warm champagne-gold shimmer that catches and reflects light across the textured surface. The combination of tactile spiral ridges and luminous metallic accents gives the vessel a refined character suited to sake presentation, dining, and display.

Artistic Characteristics

  1. Spun Spiral Texture & Golden Glow: Hand-applied horizontal glass ridges create a distinctive tactile surface while allowing the fine champagne-gold shimmer to interact with the surrounding light.
  2. Refined Pouring Form: The narrow neck and gently contoured lip provide a controlled pouring profile suitable for chilled or room-temperature sake, Awamori, and other beverages.
  3. Individual Studio Craftsmanship: Each decanter is mouth-blown and shaped individually at Glass Art Ai, resulting in natural differences in spiral spacing, glass flow, bubble formation, and shimmer distribution.
  4. Authentic Presentation: Includes a custom natural wooden presentation box (Kiribako) bearing the official Glass Art Ai studio mark, together with an authentic studio brochure.

Curator's Note: Each Glass Art Ai decanter possesses its own visual character. Natural variations in spiral-thread spacing, micro-bubble inclusions, glass contours, and the distribution of golden shimmer are inherent characteristics of individually hand-blown Okinawan glass.

These variations should not be considered manufacturing defects; they reflect the individual craftsmanship of each vessel.
