About this item

Description

Celebrating one of the most significant chapters in human space exploration, this limited-edition “Celebrating Apollo XVII and the Golden Age of Space” framed display commemorates the historic Apollo 17 mission, the final Apollo lunar landing, and the final human footprints left on the Moon during the 20th century.

Commissioned by Apollo 17 Commander Captain Eugene “Gene” Cernan and authorized by NASA, this collectible presentation honors the achievements of NASA's Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs and the astronauts, engineers, scientists, and teams who made America's first decade of human spaceflight possible.

The centerpiece is an original hand-signed Gene Cernan collage, commemorating the Apollo 17 commander who became the final human to walk on the lunar surface during the mission in December 1972.

Apollo Program Historical Timeline

The presentation incorporates mission emblems and historical imagery representing the progression of America's early human-spaceflight program, including:

  1. Mercury: America's first human spaceflight missions and orbital achievements.
  2. Gemini: Historic milestones including early spacewalks, rendezvous, and docking.
  3. Apollo: The lunar-orbit, lunar-landing, and exploration achievements that culminated in Apollo 17.
  4. Apollo 11: Recognition of Neil Armstrong as the first human to walk on the Moon.
  5. Apollo Lunar Explorers: Tribute to the astronauts who explored the lunar surface.
  6. Apollo 17: Commemoration of humanity's final Apollo lunar landing and Gene Cernan's historic final footprints on the Moon.

Hand-Signed by Apollo 17 Commander Gene Cernan

The edition-exclusive collage is hand-signed by Gene Cernan, Apollo 17 commander and the final person to walk on the Moon during the Apollo era.

Edition-Exclusive Lunar Medallion

The display includes an edition-exclusive “First Footprints” emblem and commemorative medallion, minted using metal that was flown to the Moon on Apollo missions, adding an additional historical element to the presentation.

NASA Award-Winning Artwork

The accompanying lithograph was created by NASA award-winning artist Blake Dumesnil, bringing together the missions, astronauts, emblems, and milestones of America's formative era of human space exploration.

Limited Edition

“Celebrating Apollo XVII and the Golden Age of Space” was produced as a limited edition of only 1,972 pieces, commemorating the year of the Apollo 17 mission.

Authentication

Authentication: JSA Basic Certificate of Authenticity (COA) & JSA Authentication Sticker

The JSA authentication provides third-party authentication documentation for the Gene Cernan autograph.

Collector's Note

This presentation combines signed astronaut memorabilia, NASA history, Apollo mission heritage, and limited-edition space artwork in a single display. Its connection to Apollo 17 and Gene Cernan's historic final lunar mission makes it particularly relevant to collectors of space exploration, NASA memorabilia, signed historical artifacts, and American aerospace history.
